Anyone heard of hair extensions for a boy?

I have a woman I work with who has a 9 or 10 year old son who's rather pretty hair has always been on the long side for a boy. She recently had hair extensions put in his hair that now brings it down to mid-back length. To call this gender bending doesn't cover it. He couldn't pass for a boy with 3 pc suit on.

I have honestly never heard of guys getting hair extensions except for special FX but other than that, no way... Someone who gets extensions done on a 10 year old boy to make his hair longer for no apparent reason is a little off. Hey maybe you just think its a boy? lol..
